Bringing Chaplaincy to the heart of policing

Police Chaplaincy at Southend comprises one police chaplain - Steve Currell - covering the Southend city area, bringing chaplaincy to the heart of policing by means of visiting all areas of the police station each week including the custody block, engaging with police officers and police staff, patrolling with officers and providing support for their needs. The chaplain is one of sixteeen chaplains across the Essex Police District and the Southend Chaplain is strongly supported by 'Love Southend'.

The chaplain has been involved in the 'Knife Angel' event during July 2024 and other relevant city initiatives.
