Servant Team

Mark Churchward

I have had the privilege of serving as Co-ordinator of Love Southend since 2009 and prior to that as part of its precursor, Hope for Southend.

I am constantly enthralled and challenged by Jesus’ prayer for unity in John 17 – one, as he and the Father are one. If Jesus prayed it, it must be possible! My involvement as a member of different churches at different times of my life has given me a great love for the whole church, and the one Bride Jesus is returning for. I am excited by what becomes possible with God as we learn to live together in Ps 133 oneness of heart. I am equally committed to my local church family at Southend Christian Fellowship.

Within Love Southend I serve on the Servant Team, co-administrate the ‘Loving Southend in Prayer’ WhatsApp group and am part of the ‘city connections’ sub-group. I dream of the day when every sphere of our city is impacted by the good news of Jesus and his kingdom – a Southend shaped by the values of God’s heart and his pure and supernatural ways.

I have been involved with Love Southend since it started and joined the Love Servant Team in 2019.

My involvement involves meeting with senior police officers and sending cards and gifts to officers on behalf of LS. I support and meet to pray with local councillors. I am joint co-ordinator of the Loving Southend in Prayer WhatsApp group and serve on the 'city connections' sub-group of the Servant Team.

As the Prayer & Prophetic Intercession Co-Ordinator, I feel very privileged to bring city wide concerns to church leaders and intercessors and love seeing the ways that God answers our prayers. I highly value the friendships and trust forged over the past 20+ years while representing Love Southend.

I have been involved with Love Southend since it started and joined the Servant Team in 2014.

My major task is to arrange the annual programme of the Love Southend Meetings (i.e., the Servant Team Meetings, and the monthly Worship and City-Focused Prayer Times) fitting them around school holidays and other Christian events planned across the City.

I am part of the 'City Connections' sub-group of the Servant Team.

I represent Love Southend at the Southend Faith and Belief Network and at other gatherings as required.

I have worshipped at Westcliff Free Church for over 50 years and am one of the Leadership Team there.

I am currently also Chair of the Southend Street Pastors.

I have been involved with Love Southend as a member of the Servant Team for around 15 years.

I’m part of the leadership at King’s Church (a local Newfrontiers church) and I’m also the manager at KMAC (King’s Money Advice Centre) – a CMA affiliated debt advice ministry – and involved in Southend City Council’s Tackling Poverty Strategy.

Since the early days of my relationship with Jesus (stretching back over 50 years) I have had a heart for the whole Body of Christ, not just one particular congregation – especially back in my own home city. I seek to encourage and build up Christians wherever I meet them, and enjoy the invitations and opportunities given to share and teach God’s word with other local congregations, and beyond.

I don’t have a specific job description with Love Southend - but greatly enjoy the relationships with other members of the Love Southend Servant Team to encourage city-wide vision and ministry as all God’s people across the city take up their mandate to be salt and light in every environment they find themselves.

I am pastor of Wellspring Church, Southend. I have been involved with Love Southend for many years and joined the Servant Team 3 years ago. I have served on the ‘Unity’ sub-group of the Servant Team.

My involvement as a trustee and director of a local charitable company ministering to the homeless in the community means I have a particular interest in city-wide ministry in addition to my desire to see Holy Spirit led unity and revival in Christ’s Body in the City.
