Voluntary opportunities with Southend Street Pastors

Southend Street Pastors have voluntary opportunities for 2024. We are looking for people who have a great passion for serving our communities and City and, more importantly, serving God in his remarkable ministry. The New roles below are all voluntary and will require each person to be able to give two days a week and be able to provide a few hours each day. Each person will become part of our fantastic family and will be on hand to help and support our management team. We have four new positions detailed below, briefly describing each role.

1. Southend Street Pastors are looking to apply for Charity status in our own right; with this in mind, we are looking for people with a great passion for making Southend Street Pastors great, so we are looking for Trustees to make our dream possible. The management team will support the new team of trustees as Southend Street Pastors move forward into 2024. Trustees are the volunteers who lead charities and decide how they run. You may have heard them called board members or the board. Trusteeship is an excellent way of contributing to causes you care about and developing strategic and leadership skills simultaneously.

2. Secretarial opportunity – Southend Street Pastors are looking for a passion to serve as our Secretary. The responsibility of the position is to help and support the management team by answering calls, taking messages and handling correspondence, maintaining diaries, arranging appointments, preparing and collating reports

3. Treasurer Opportunity – Southend Street Pastors are looking for a dedicated person who enjoys working within the financial area of our ministry. The role of a treasurer within a charity is to advise the board on carrying out its financial responsibilities, working with the management team and board of trustees overseeing the preparation of annual accounts ( in small charities ), taking on some or all day-to-day financial duties such as bookkeeping, budgeting and preparation of reports.

4. Communication officer or public Relations Officer: Southend Street Pastors seek someone to manage an organisation’s corporate communications. Their role includes writing and distributing communication materials, advising management on publicity activities, and serving as the ministry’s point of contact. The communications officer will also create, coordinate, and execute communication plans to increase public awareness.

Becoming A Street Pastor – we are always looking to continue to build our fantastic family of Street Pastors here in Southend; as we move into a New Year, we are looking to recruit prospective new Street Pastors. We are planning a training program to help, support and prepare our new people to serve our wonderful community and City as Street Pastors by Listening, Caring and helping. Street Pastors engage with people on the Streets to care for, listen to and help them. They work together with other partners in the night and daytime economy to make the community safer

For more information about the above opportunities to join our fantastic ministry to serve Jesus in our City and its community, please contact our Coordinator, John Levitt.
