Support for Ukrainian Families in Southend

John Simmons from the Love Southend Servant Team has been attending the weekly meetings of the Council-led “Ukrainian Community Support Group”.

From the last meeting, the main action is to use this form: https://airtable.com/shr7k9zRDVv3Vwb47 to enable SAVS to upload offers of support to a dedicated page on the One Southend website. Although there is currently a low number of Ukrainian families in Southend, the immediate needs are:

• community spaces for meetings of Ukrainian and/or host families;
• people able and willing to translate; and
• donations: not so much donations themselves, but provision of storage space and the sorting/management of what’s donated (so it’s better than what happened with everything that was donated to the Afghan refugees).
