Bridge Hub Warrior Square Community Co-ordinator

Southend Vineyard Church are seeking to appoint a worker to oversee the effective and efficient running of ‘The Bridge Hub’ and working with the community around Warrior Square to help make it a place for the community to feel safe and take pride in. The Bridge is a ground floor community hub facility just of Southend High Street where Southend Vineyard Church and others (who hire it) can use it for a warm and welcoming facility to meet.

Job Overview
To oversee the operation of the Bridge Hub Centre working with the Operations Manager and other staff working with partners (Essex Police, Southend City Council, local residents associations, local councillors, local businesses, Essex University Southend, Love Southend (Street Pastors), Achievement Through Football (ATF), Southend Community Matters and other organisations by supporting and helping the community to thrive by building community networks and encouraging collaboration to ensure the community space at Warrior Square is accessible and safe for everyone.

The project will empower children, young people and students to succeed and improve access to technology and training through the open youth club and other activities at the hub and provide support to local people with sessions aimed to reduce loneliness and isolation and improve wellbeing.

You will be part of a Bridge Project team which will comprise a youth worker, the community co-ordinator and counsellor/therapist. Working together with our Storehouse (where there are four staff who support people) we will be able to offer advocacy and help with various things to challenge systemic inequalities (we are already working with the homeless, disabled people, sex workers and asylum seekers.) e.g. signposting services, help with applications for various entitlements. We also want to work with older people to help increase their ability around technology to ensure they are not unnecessarily marginalised.
Our desire is to impact on root causes and make a long-lasting difference.
Job Details:-
• Location: SOUTHEND ON SEA, ESSEX
• Contract: Part Time ( 22 hours a week on a 12-month fixed term contract)
• Salary: £15 per hour
