URBAN EXTREME STARTS THIS WEEK

After Sunday night’s ‘commisioning’ of the Delegates – some 150 young people from local churches – at Southend Christian Fellowship, every day this week will see them going to different parts of town…to paint school-playgrounds, clear alleyways of rubbish, pick up litter, clean off grafitti and perform other simple acts of practical, social concern. All under the banner of LOVE SOUTHEND. All in the name of Jesus Christ.

Starting each day with an act of worship at Southend Christian Fellowship at 10am, the delegates then go out to their designated areas, where they roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty for an afternoon, serving the local community.

In the evenings, they receive a meal courtesy of a local church, before different events take place around Southend, featuring speakers and Christian bands and artists. All activities are lead by the youth leaders of the local churches, and many adults are helping with transport, meals and where necessary, supervision.

PLEASE keeping checking this sight regularly, as we hope to provide daily updates on the work-in-progress. From David Elcock in Leigh to Derek Thomas in Southchurch, and all points in between, we hope to keep you informed with their progress…when they have time to speak to us!

Look out for photos of the teams in action here, and keep checking the local press for further coverage – and please pray for the delegates…please pray that the weather is good at the weekend, when the whole initiative is rounded-off with the big BEACH BASH to celebrate, on Southend seafront!
