The campaign by the Churches Publicity Forum (SEECPF) this Christmas was also backed up by a response coupon in the Evenibg Echo Christmas in the Churches feature Friday 14th December issue. Churches also delivered invite cards and community newsletters through doors in their neighbourhood as a way of inviting people to their Christmas events. The campaign aims to show that all are welcome to join with their local church at Christmas and indeed at any time of the year.

David Elcock, Forum member said, ‘The Great Escape! the advert is a fun way to highlight the services and events taking place in churches across the area this Christmas.’… ‘Sometimes we can feel like escaping it all, when all the wrappings of Christmas get a bit too much. We want to encourage people from our neighbourhoods to escape from it all and discover some peace, a warm welcome and the true reason for the season at their local Christian church.’

David added, ‘Some of the churches are holding special music concerts, film showings and plays, Carols Concerts followed by free mulled wine and mince pies, and opportunities to wonder at the message of the first Christmas and God’s Son being born into the world as a gift from God for all of us.’
