AS CHRISTIANS we’re supposed to be always looking for an opportunity to tell others about Jesus. In reality, there are occasional opportunities for outreach at church, but often they don’t seem to come along at the right time, or something happens to get in the way… and so we hesitate, in getting our loved ones to hear the Good News.
But there is an event, to which we can invite people and one which usually illicits a positive response from them: and now, all you need is a radio to get them involved with it…perhaps alongside total strangers!
Research* confirms that most people would be happy at receiving an invite to a Carol Service – but they would expect to be invited and are unlikely to attend, otherwise. Viz-a-Viz, alongside BBC Radio Essex and LOVE SOUTHEND are teaming up to bring, ‘A Real Christmas Carol Service for Essex’.
On SUNDAY 18th DECEMBER you have the opportunity to invite friends, family, neighbours, etc. to a Real Christmas Carol Service! The time is 6.00pm and the service will be provided live, courtesy of the BBC Essex broadcast; just tune-in and turn up! 103.5 FM or 95.3 FM
Where can this service take place? How far does your imagination stretch? Simply invite the neighbours round and practise the gift of hospitality. You could throw a Christmas Party with the service at the centre. Alternatively, if you’re part of a group of activists, you could take the service ‘out there’ – and into a local pub, or nursing home…providing you have prior permission, of course! We realise that many of you will be busy with established Carol Services that evening: that’s great! But if you’re not, here’s an opportunity to take ‘church’ to the people.
