This has now become a firm date in many golf enthusiasts diary as LRBC members and their guests together enjoyed a great day of golf over the local course.
In the Mens Low Handicap competition it was a tight finish however Jon Howley prevailed over the close challenge of Mick Eady. Each amassed a total of 41 Stableford points, however Jon won thanks to consecutive birdies at the 12th and 13th, just managing to pip Mick on countback.
In the Mens High Handicap competition, the 2007 champion, Paul Rumball again produced an excellent round winning for the second year running, this time with a comfortable five point margin over Colin Wingham and Jamie Currell in second place.
The Ladies competition saw single figure handicapper Joan Smith beat Julie Eady into second place. Joan’s win, over her home course, was achieved in her first visit to the LRBC Golf Day.
The event concluded with a buffet and prize-giving ceremony beside the 18th green at the Belfairs course. Afterwards Martin Eady, co-organiser of the event and LRBC member said: “Every year we seem to be blessed with excellent weather and the quality of the golf improves year-on-year too. It is an excellent opportunity for members of the church with a keen interest in golf to join with their friends to play in a competitive but very friendly environment”
