Roger says:
“I am organising a pilgrimage to the Isle of Iona, off the Scottish coast, famed as the home of St. Columba.
“It was the birth place of Christianity, in mainland Britain. From the abbey Columba established, Aidan travelled to Lindisfarne and established his own abbey, and from Lindisfarne Cedd and Chad brought Christianity to Essex, through their religious communities at Bradwell and East Tilbury.
“Due to cancellation two, single room, places are available on this pilgrimage. We travel by air-conditioned coach from Leigh on Friday June 6th; stay overnight at Keswick in the Lake District; arriving on Iona on the Saturday afternoon. We stay on a half-board basis at the St. Columba Hotel, situated next door to the Abbey Church, giving us the opportunity to worship in the Abbey.
“Iona Abbey is non denominational and their worship is open to all. The cost is £795. This includes transort, accomodation, comprehensive insurance and ferry crossings to Mull and Iona. The only additional expenses are lunches and any additional trips you choose to take, such as a boat trip to Staffa to see the puffins and Fingal’s Cave.
“We leave Iona on Thursday June 12th, stop overnight at Keswick and arrive back at Leigh on Friday June 13th. These places can only remain open until March 7th. “This is a wonderful opportunity to visit one of the most holy and beautiful places in Britain.
