Budding artists show their work and win awards

The exhibition was open to the public over the weekend and also featured work by Belfairs High School’s photography pupils in the church’s Coffee House, and an exhibition by Seevic College in the Stables’ loft.

Some of the pieces were sold, providing added inspiration for the young artists to continue their work.

David Elcock, from the church, helped judge the work with Lola Swain from the Leigh Art Trail.

He said: “The event is to provide a youth zone to the Leigh Art Trail.

“It was absolutely fantastic. This was our fourth year and probably the largest event yet. Every school in Leigh is now involved, along with Seevic College.”

All schools across the Southend borough were invited to submit six pieces of art work from their best pupils.

Mr Elcock added: “We ended up with 12 schools entering with some really fantastic work.

“Those children that had art work featured in the exhibition were invited to a private showing and awards ceremony.”
