Love Southend, Southend Street Pastors & Partners at the Knife Angel, Southend-on-Sea

The Love Southend and Southend Street Pastors Team had an amazing, although wet afternoon on Sunday 7 July at the Knife Angel Monument located in Southend High Street outside the Odeon.

It was our privilege to volunteer for Southend-on-Sea City Council and the Community Safety Team and engage with families and young people who visited the Knife Angel.

The Team gave out leaflets containing Knife Angel Facts as well as white ribbon to tie to the railings around the Angel. This symbolises hope and peace the opposite to aggression and violence.

We also manned a Reflective Area for visitors, where time was given to reflective crafting and prayers if visitors wished to. Children also had the option of making a peace dove. Many fruitful conversations were had.

We engaged with about 200 families and young people in total, with a Team of 15 volunteers over 3 hours.

The Love Southend and Southend Street Pastors Team will be back on Sunday 21st July 1pm to 4pm, so do come along and see us or volunteer by emailing Avril Richards at southendprayerpastors@gmail.com
