On a bright but showery morning on Friday 12th November 2021 more than fifty people from across Southend (and Essex) gathered at Twenty One on Southend’s Seafront to sign the “Hands Together Southend Against Hatred” banner.

The crowd included four of the Love Southend Servant team.
“Hands Together Southend Against Hatred” is the brainchild of Rob McAvoy of Project Southchurch who, following the tragic death of Sir David Amess, wanted to bring residents from a variety of organisations, faith groups and statutory bodies together to create a visual representation of community – this is just part of the banner.

It was Love Southend’s privilege to be part of those standing against hatred in our communities.
The banner will be travelling around Southend-on-Sea before finding a permanent home in the borough. Well done to all of the Team at Project Southchurch for organising such a good event and bringing people together.
