Southend Street Pastors are starting a recruitment campaign on Saturday 26th March in the Victoria Shopping Centre in Southend and we would love for you to come and visit our display and have a chat with members of our teams.
The Street Pastor movement is an international, interdenominational network of Christian charitable initiatives, operating under the Ascension Trust License Agreement. Street Pastors Initiatives, like the one in Southend-on-Sea, provide services to help people on the streets and other public places, give guidance, support and signposting which assist in avoiding anti-social behaviour, relieve sickness and preserve health.
The strategic principle of this initiative is achieved by enabling the Church to lay aside its dissimilarities to find the common purpose of the church society as a unified agent of reconciliation.
The core value of this partnership is an “Urban Trinity”, which expresses preserving public order and peace.
Street Pastors activities
The work of Southend Street Pastors is generally carried out in the night time economy and in the daytime economy, we patrol Southend High Street, Seafront, universities, colleges, Night Clubs and Pubs meeting and greeting the people in our wonderful City. During the day we cover all the parks in Southend and Leigh-on-Sea, Street Pastor volunteers patrol the streets in an established manner, practising unconditional love for all, primarily through listening, caring, and helping people who are vulnerable or marginalised.
Street Pastors are non-judgemental Christian adults, members of a local church and distinctly identifiable by their appropriate uniform and ID Card. They are men and women who have received specific training that empowers them to be the presence of Jesus on the streets proactively showing their concern for the well-being and safety of their local community in practical ways.
