Explore Christianity and Church in person

There are over 50 churches different churches across the Borough of Southend-on-Sea and many more just across the borders of our town. Each of them made up of people who daily find a spiritual reality that is both enjoyable and relevant. You can visit our Find a church page, visit their website, make contact or just go along, a lot of them will have their doors open for services on a Sunday. The different Churches are united in our love of Jesus Christ but not uniform in the way we approach this. So with many different expressions of church we encourage you to try and find a home at one that fits with you.

You may like to try the excellent christianity.org.uk. Have a look around their site and explore the questions they try to help you explore. You can then leave it there or ask a question of your own, request further information or even ask to be linked up with a local church in your area. After you contact them, no one will telephone, visit, spam or bother you. They will only use the information you have given them to respond to what you have asked for.

Courses and other opportunities to explore

Throughout the year many local Churches run courses such as Alpha and Christianity Explored, which are designed for people to attend and explore if the Christian faith has any relevance to them. They are great places to ask all those questions we all have and discover more in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. What’s more many of the courses include food! Which can’t be bad. To see when the next course is happening in your area visit either or the websites linked below.

Try Alpha

Try Alpha
Alpha believes that everyone should have the chance to explore faith, ask questions, and share their point of view.
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone’s welcome. It runs online, in cafés, churches, universities, homes—you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: hospitality, a talk and good conversation. Find out more about Alpha here.
