Streets of Light, a trail of Light, Love and Hope will see many windows lit up across Leigh-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-Sea and the rest of the UK from Monday 30 October running through to the evening of Sunday 5 November 2023. So let the fun of hunting them down begin!

This year we have over 400 homes, community centres, schools, and churches joining in across the UK. In times of such difficulty, challenge, and uncertainty for our nation; our desire is that every decorated window conveys a simple but important message to all who see it – that light overcomes the darkness, that people are loved, and that there is hope.

Keep and eye on: www.streetsoflight.co.uk

If you would like to do the various different trails with friends and neighbours, then there are two ways that you can access the maps:

  1. Use your phone to access the interactive map for the whole of the UK, and then head out on your own individually devised route. Why not explore a new area near you one evening? The new interactive map is available on Facebook and on our website – www.streetsoflight.co.uk/interactive-map
  2. Download trail maps of specific areas of Westcliff-on-Sea and Leigh-on-Sea (West and East). These are also available the Streets of Light website here: www.streetsoflight.co.uk/routes#Maps

It’s not too late to join in, even if you don’t feature on the map, you’re lights will still shine out a message of hope!

The key things to remember are:

  • Not to have anything scary/frightening or linked to Halloween (you can obviously have pumpkins if you carved them with hearts, or the words ‘light,’ ‘love,’ or ‘hope’ – instead of faces)
  • Every window needs to have the words ‘Light’ or ‘Love’ or ‘Hope’ somewhere in the display.
  • Your window needs to be lit from approximately 5.30-9pm each night.
  • If you don’t want people to see into your house, then you can use tissue paper to cover your windows, or you can use an upstairs window – if you don’t want to have a downstairs room lit.

We would love to see pictures of your windows and the amazing displays you have produced, or pictures of you doing the trail with friends and family.  Please do take photos and share them on the Streets of Light Facebook page – www.facebook.com/streetsoflight/
