One of the things we love to do in Love Southend is to celebrate what God is doing through Christian ministry to extend the reach of his love into our city; to hear what God is making possible through Christians carrying his presence and the values of his heart into different elements of our city’s life; to discover how as individuals and churches we can support and encourage them; and to pray for God’s blessing and leading in their work and service.
On Sunday 13th February we will be hearing from two such ministries.
Nina Stewart, manager of Southend Churches Community Support (SCCS), will be telling us about the work of SCCS which has emerged from the work among rough-sleepers of the former Southend Churches Winter Night Shelters. SCCS is one of Love Southend’s own ministries in the city and works in partnership with the Council.
Natasha Copus, manger of Southend Foodbank, will be telling us about the work of this multi-sited emergency food provision, the ‘more than food’ dimension of their work and observations about the place and need of a foodbank in our communities.
We are grateful to Nina and Natasha giving time to inform, encourage and inspire us about these works of God’s grace in Southend.
